Background: The Veterinary Association of Zambia (VAZ) is pleased to invite all members to participate in an important Mental Health Awareness Session designed specifically for veterinary professionals.
VAZ recognizes that veterinary practice is both rewarding and demanding. Long working hours, compassion fatigue, occupational stress, difficult clinical decisions, financial pressures, and the emotional impact of caring for animals and their owners can significantly affect mental wellbeing. Prioritizing mental health is essential for maintaining personal wellbeing, professional excellence, and quality veterinary services.
Objectives of the Session: Increase awareness of mental health challenges affecting veterinary professionals; Promote mental wellbeing and resilience within the veterinary profession; Equip veterinary professionals with practical strategies for managing stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue; Encourage early recognition of mental health concerns and appropriate help-seeking behaviour; Foster a supportive professional culture where mental wellbeing is openly discussed and prioritized.
